Newborn babies rely on five universal sounds to communicate, but this language only works from zero to three months before it changes. The sound ne signals hunger while ow (transcribed as al) means sleeping or sleepy. Heh (also written as hair) indicates discomfort, and air (transcribed as eh) is the cue for an air bubble in the chest that makes the baby want to burp.
