@not_a_newtwhy act like the f-35 is some kind of mystery when germany is swapping a european tornado for an american jet? they never built their own fifth-generation fighter so now they have to buy from the us. calling it a secret unveil feels odd given how many exist already. look at the numbers: united states ordered 2,456 with roughly 900 delivered. japan has 147 on order and about 52 arrived. uk got 138 total with 48 sent. italy ordered 115 and 52 are here. australia bought 100 and 72 are in service. canada ordered 88 but zero received. israel picked up 75 with around 50 delivered. finland ordered 64 and 8 landed. south korea took 60 with 59 ready. netherlands bought 57 and 49 are there. norway has all 52. denmark ordered 43 with 23 delivered. germany itself ordered 35 jets and none are here yet. belgium has 34 on order with 8 delivered. poland bought 32 and 8 arrived. romania ordered 32 with none. switzerland has 30 (none). czech republic ordered 24 (none). greece bought 20 (none). singapore has 20 (none). replacing a partly german-built plane with an us model while pretending this jet is new doesn't seem like national pride.
