A young boy and a black dog are the focus in a close-up outdoor portrait. The boy in a blue-and-white checkered shirt has white cream or foam smeared across his cheeks and chin while smiling at the camera; he has one arm around the dog whose head is covered in the same white foam forming two large circles around its eyes. They are posed together in what appears to be a backyard or deck setting with green foliage behind them. The image has a warm, candid, and playful mood with natural daylight. The dog's glossy black fur and the foamy eye patches create a striking, humorous contrast against the boy's cheerful expression.
