The Turkish population in Germany has been steadily declining since the early 2000s. In 2000, there were 1,994,000 Turkish residents. By 2001, the number dropped to 1,948,000, followed by 1,912,000 in 2002 and 1,878,000 in 2003. The decline continued with 1,764,000 in 2004, 1,714,000 in 2005, 1,683,000 in 2006, 1,656,000 in 2007, 1,629,000 in 2008, and 1,600,000 in 2009. For 2010 data, see the link.
