Congratulatory movie ads collage

Just found out directors used to trade congratulatory movie ads whenever a box office record got smashed, and the collage of these is wild. It’s got Star Wars, Jaws, E.T., Jurassic World, The Force Awakens, Avengers, Titanic, and Avatar, all with handwritten notes and signatures from Steven Spielberg, George Lucas, and Jim Cameron. The one from Spielberg to Lucas after Star Wars beat Jaws in domestic rentals says, “Your hyperspace performance package really did the trick.” Seeing Jaws and R2-D2 fishing, E.T. crowning R2-D2, a T-Rex with Chris Pratt, and a lightsaber grabbing for an Iron Man glove, it’s such a cool piece of history 🫡
