    Blanca Arbel Can Brugarola controversy

Blanca Arbel served as mayor of the Spanish town Canet de Mar while representing the Catalan separatist party ERC. She faced criticism after 50 unaccompanied minor migrants, aged 14 to 17 and without adult guardians, were placed in the Can Brugarola hostel. This facility is owned by Arbel and her family. The placement happened through a taxpayer-funded program. For housing these migrants, the hostel received nearly 8,000 euros per day. That sum amounts to approximately 2.9 million euros per year before expenses. The center was managed by Eduvic within Catalonia's child protection system. The contract for the center was signed by the regional administration of Catalonia. At that time, the relevant department of that administration was under the control of ERC. Arbel herself was a member of that same party. The situation concludes with the opinion that leftists cannot do without corruption and theft.
