Kamome Shirahama Witch Hat Atelier interview

Stories feel off when they leave out the people we actually share life with, according to Kamome Shirahama. The creator of WITCH HAT ATELIER told Anime Corner that leaving real-life diversity out feels unnatural instead of just a choice. Including different characters is seen as a natural progression rather than something needing extra praise. The aim is normalization so special gratitude isn't needed anymore for seeing real people in fiction. For me, not having that representation would actually feel very unnatural… It seems just a natural progression of things to have the people we live alongside in real life appear in the story… I also feel like that really should be more normalized, and I would like to see the day when people don't have to feel a special gratitude for that happening.
