Schools in South Hebron hills West Bank

Tomorrow, students in the South Hebron hills of the West Bank are set to begin their school year, but fourteen classrooms there already face demolition orders taped to their doors. The education chief confirms these fourteen units belong to a larger cluster of eighteen schools that educate roughly 1,600 children across Masafer Yatta and the nearby Badia. Israel maintains that these caravan structures were built without permits in Area C, where such permissions are almost never issued, and a court has previously dismissed an appeal against the demolitions. Officials warn that if bulldozers arrive, classes will move to tents or open ground, forcing students to walk past a bypass road to reach temporary boxes they must dismantle before lunch.
