What if the next big productivity leap isn't about making already-comfortable people even more efficient, but about handing the same tools to everyone else? The Gates Foundation just put $1 billion behind that idea, aiming to widen AI access in lower-income nations. AI could be the great equalizer, or it could deepen the divide between those who have the data, infrastructure, and intelligence and those who don't. A doctor, a teacher, or someone working the land in Rwanda should eventually get the same kind of intelligence power that someone in Silicon Valley takes for granted. If that actually happens, the impact might go way past a 20% productivity bump for people who were already productive. That's a version of the AI revolution I'd be glad to see built.
