PS6 price and lineup questions

The pitch Sony eventually has to make for the PS6 isn't about horsepower. It's about giving people a reason to want one at all. PlayStation is too established to fall flat on its face, I don't see that happening. But the setup around the console raises fair questions. There's still no official announcement from Sony, and the broader direction is already drawing scrutiny. On the software side, physical releases are projected to wrap up by 2028. PS5 titles might keep carrying the early stretch of the next generation. A digital-first setup also means players have fewer ways to pick up a game or sell it back later. Then there's the money question. Next-gen hardware is anticipated to arrive at a high price point, and Sony doesn't seem interested in swallowing big losses to get it out the door. Meanwhile several major projects have drifted away from the platform, PHYSINT being the one that keeps coming up. So if the thing launches expensive without a lineup of games that actually demands the new hardware, a lot of people could just sit it out and wait. That's the real test. Not whether the PS6 can prove it's powerful, but whether anyone can be convinced they need it.
