    ⭐Paul Scholes⭐Michael Carrick⭐Casemiro

Paul Scholes on Carrick-ball and Casemiro

two wins in seven. that is the state of it, and paul scholes is not letting anyone dress it up. he watched the fulham game and fired it straight to giggsy with a question attached, where has carrick-ball gone. giggsy's reply was basically don't start. scholes started. his point is that last season had a story slapped on it too fast. michael carrick steps in, results follow, the club climbs back into the Champions League, and the whole thing gets branded Carrick-ball as if some new sport had been drawn up on a whiteboard. scholes says he sat through those matches himself, and what he actually saw was a midfielder planted in front of the back four, doing the grubby stuff so the others could play. second balls. fouls. kobbie and bruno pushing forward while Case stayed put. none of that is a philosophy. that is Casemiro. we had Roy, they had Case. those players slip under the radar until the day they are not there. Casemiro left, Carrick is still around, the nickname is still around, the winning run is not. one draw at Fulham, two goals up at home against Brighton before going out of the cup, and a league position down in 19th. scholes reckons the manager cannot recreate that stretch because it depended on one midfielder who never seemed to get bored or worn down. the name went on the manager. it should have gone on the man who walked out the door.
