Eddie Murphy states he has nothing left to prove, so he will not make another film unless everything about it is right. This standard applies especially to Beverly Hills Cop. He notes that the film kind of started the action comedy genre. It was also the first movie starring a black person that wanted everybody all around the world to see it. Murphy shared these thoughts during an appearance on THE KELLY CLARKSON SHOW.

I just wanted everything to be right. I'm not doing any more movies unless everything is right. Especially something like Beverly Hills Cop. This movie kind of like started that genre, action comedies kind of started with that movie. And it was the first movie to start a black person that was all around the world. They went to go see it. Yeah. It is a huge franchise and a big fan. So Joseph Gordon-Levitt said that y'all bonded over music, you connected over music. So what kind of music do you love and what has inspired you? I listen to all different types of stuff. Me too, that's my favorite part doing this show is just singing whatever I want because I love a lot of different genres. Listen to all different types of music.
