This mural I painted might make a lot of people mad because I was asked to paint over a mural that was painted over 20 years ago and is a staple in a community. The thing is is that the building was sold and the original mural was painted for a bridal salon and now it's going to be a pharmacy and they felt that the mural really didn't fit the vibe and so instead of just painting it a white wall they decided to appeal to the community and repaint the mural. So now I have to live up to the expectations of this neighborhood because I do know how much that mural was loved and I don't want to disappoint them with the new one. The theme of the mural that I went with is pollinators and I wanted to go with pollinators that you could find in the community. Turns out the location of this mural is on Academy and that's actually a hot spot for the local ruby-throated hummingbird. So I decided to make that the feature of the mural. And then of course I had to add in a monarch butterfly and a bee. And of course we all know how important pollinators are to a community and I know that the people from this area that I paint in the mural in will really appreciate that. Like I said this is on Academy in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Now to talk a little bit about my process. This is of course a 100% freehand mural. I don't prepound my murals. I just go in and start painting and whatever happens happens. And I'm always just as surprised with the results as you are. And here it is, all done. This isn't quite the finished look because the top portion of the mural will actually be wood paneling that the client is installing later. So you just have to imagine that that's going to be covered up, starting at that black line below the windowsills. And like I said, I really don't pre-plan any mural because the day before I started painting this, I actually had a dream about a hummingbird. So when I met with my client in the morning, I asked them if I could paint my dream. Oh, and thank goodness they said yes, because I really love the way this mural turned out. It's exactly what my dream looked like. Anyways, thank you so much for watching my video. I really appreciate it.
