Joe Wright turned an abandoned theater into the entire world of ANNA KARENINA for its production. The stage and backstage areas got converted to stand in for ballrooms and train stations, a choice made to mirror how theatrical Russian high society actually was. It is hard to imagine the scale of that set design when you think about the film celebrating its 14th anniversary today.
