    Acerca de

The Clinton Foundation, officially known as the Bill, Hillary & Chelsea Clinton Foundation, operates as a major non-profit organization with headquarters in New York City and a significant operational hub in Little Rock, Arkansas. Former President Bill Clinton established the entity in 1997 while still in office, initially envisioning it as a vehicle for post-presidential philanthropy. The organization formally launched under its original name, the William J. Clinton Presidential Foundation, in 2001 to support the construction of the presidential library before expanding its scope to address global issues.

In 2013, the group rebranded to include Hillary and Chelsea Clinton, reflecting their expanded leadership roles in daily operations and strategic direction. As a 501(c)(3) operating foundation, the group manages programs directly rather than simply distributing grants. Its work spans four core pillars: improving global health, increasing opportunity for women and girls, reducing childhood obesity, and building resilience against climate change.

The foundation has raised over $2 billion since its inception, generating approximately $200 million in annual revenue to support a global staff of roughly 2,000 employees. It maintains active partnerships with governments, corporations, and civil society groups across more than 70 countries to drive measurable impact on critical international challenges.

    Misión

The Clinton Foundation aims to strengthen the capacity of people in the United States and around the world to meet the challenges of global interdependence. This mission drives four specific areas of focus: improving access to healthcare, creating economic opportunities for women and girls, reducing childhood obesity through healthier communities, and building resilience to climate change. The organization seeks to forge partnerships between governments, businesses, NGOs, and individuals to achieve scalable results.

    Historia

Planning began in 1997 when Bill Clinton was still serving as president, setting the stage for a long-term philanthropic legacy. The entity officially opened its doors in 2001 as the William J. Clinton Presidential Foundation, with an early mandate centered on the presidential library and broader policy work. By 2002, the Clinton HIV/AIDS Initiative took shape, later evolving into the Clinton Health Access Initiative (CHAI). This program successfully negotiated steep discounts on antiretroviral drugs from pharmaceutical companies, significantly expanding access to life-saving treatments in developing nations.

The 2010 Haiti earthquake triggered a massive relief response where the foundation raised over $30 million and coordinated closely with the Clinton Bush Haiti Fund. In 2013, the organization underwent a rebranding to become the Bill, Hillary & Chelsea Clinton Foundation, signaling a shift toward greater family involvement in leadership. During Hillary Clinton's 2016 presidential campaign, the group faced intense scrutiny regarding foreign government donations and potential conflicts of interest involving the State Department. An internal investigation found no evidence of wrongdoing, though the controversy resulted in new ethics guidelines banning foreign government donations during campaigns.

Recent years have seen continued expansion of its operational footprint. In 2020, the foundation deployed resources for COVID-19 relief and vaccine distribution. A notable financial development occurred in October 2026 when Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones and his family announced a $10 million donation to the foundation and the Clinton Presidential Center in Little Rock. This contribution underscores the organization's enduring ability to attract high-profile supporters despite past controversies.
