Sobre este álbum
July 17, 2015 marked the arrival of Future's third studio album DS2, a direct sequel to his 2011 mixtape Dirty Sprite. The project dropped through A1 Recordings and Freebandz with distribution from Epic Records, delivering 13 tracks that ran for just under 45 minutes. Metro Boomin, Southside, and Zaytoven led a team of producers who crafted a sonic landscape defined by skeletal beats and dark atmospheres. These minimalist arrangements provided the perfect backdrop for Future's raw, Auto-Tuned vocals as he explored themes of codeine addiction, wealth, and transient relationships.
The opening track "Thought It Was a Drought" immediately sets a somber tone before shifting into "I Serve the Base" and the Drake-collaboration "Where Ya At." While singles like "Fuck Up Some Commas" dominated radio play earlier in the year, the album itself relies on deep cuts like "The Percocet & Stripper Joint" and "Stick Talk" to showcase its emotional range. Critics noted how Future transformed hedonistic subject matter into art, praising the project's consistency and unflinching lyrical delivery throughout the run.
