Fame Is a Gun

May 30, 2025 marked the arrival of "Fame Is a Gun," the final single from Addison Rae's debut album Addison. The track pairs pulsing electronics with jagged guitar lines to explore the dark side of visibility. Co-written by Rae alongside producers Luka Kloser and Elvira Anderfjärd, the song functions as a thematic reckoning rather than a victory lap. Critics noted how the production balances vulnerability with defiance, creating a sonic landscape that feels more aggressive than her previous pop efforts.

The song quickly became a focal point for online discussions regarding the cost of stardom. Fans dissected lyrics like "Fame is a gun and I point it blind" across TikTok and X, turning the track into a cultural touchstone for internet-era fame. Its reach extended beyond music streaming when it landed on the soundtrack for Luca Guadagnino's 2025 film Scarlet, cementing its place in broader pop culture conversations.

Commercial success followed immediately, pushing the single into the Top 40 of the United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand while securing Rae's third spot on the US Billboard Hot 100. By early 2026, the official music video directed by Lisha Tan had accumulated over 25 million views on YouTube. The track's influence also sparked high-profile covers, including an acoustic version by Ethel Cain in July 2025 and a stripped-down piano rendition by Troye Sivan later that August. [editar]
