    Acerca de

Bob McNair secured the NFL's 32nd franchise for Houston in October 1999, filling the void left when the Oilers moved to Tennessee. The team began play in 2002 under head coach Dom Capers and has since called NRG Stadium home. This domed venue sits in the Museum District and opened with a capacity of 72,220 seats.

The franchise operates within the AFC South alongside the Colts, Jaguars, and Titans. While they have claimed seven division titles across two decades, they remain the only current NFL team without a Super Bowl appearance or an AFC Championship Game victory. Their colors feature Deep Steel Blue, Liberty White, Battle Red, and Value Black.

    Historia

The city waited six years after the Oilers' departure before getting their new team. Bob McNair led the effort to bring professional football back, winning a fan contest that selected the name Texans. The inaugural 2002 season ended with a 4-12 record under Dom Capers, but the foundation held.

Gary Kubiak took over in 2006 and guided the squad to its first winning season in 2009. That era produced J.J. Watt, who won three Defensive Player of the Year awards starting in 2011. The team captured its first division title that same year and beat the Bengals in the Wild Card round before falling to Baltimore.

Bill O'Brien coached from 2014 to 2020, adding four more division crowns but failing to advance past the Divisional round. A low point arrived in 2020 after trading DeAndre Hopkins, leading to a 4-12 finish. David Culley and Lovie Smith followed during a rebuilding phase until DeMeco Ryans arrived in 2023. He returned the team to prominence with a 10-7 record and a division title in 2024, powered by rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud.

By Week 9 of the 2026 season, the Texans sat at 2-5 and faced a critical reset on defense. Injuries to running back David Montgomery and safety Reed Blankenship complicated matters as the team prepared to face the Los Angeles Chargers. Coach DeMeco Ryans emphasized returning to basics in tackling while managing roster moves around the trade deadline.
