Sobre esta canción
Danny Ocean recorded Me Rehúso in his Miami bedroom during early 2016 while working at a pizza shop. He crafted the track as a Valentine's Day gift for a woman he had to leave behind when fleeing Venezuela's escalating economic and political crisis. The song blends tropical house, dance-pop, and reggaeton elements with interlocking synthesizers and a subtle beat that enters around the one-minute mark.
Released independently on September 16, 2016, the single spread organically through streaming playlists. By early 2017 it appeared on Spotify's Top 50 in every Latin American country, an unprecedented feat for an unsigned artist. Atlantic Records and Warner Music Latina officially re-released the track on June 16, 2017, after its viral traction caught their attention.
The re-release propelled the song to break the record for the Latin track with the most weeks on Spotify's Global Top 50. It spent 36 weeks on the chart, surpassing Luis Fonsi's Despacito, and peaked at number 18. Spotify named it the top streamed track of 2017 in Colombia, Chile, and Mexico. As of late 2025, the song has surpassed 2.5 billion streams on the platform alone.
