Migi & Dali
Nami Sano
Resumen
Origon Village looks like a perfect suburban paradise, yet twin brothers Migi and Dali treat the town as their personal stage. Adopted by the wealthy Sonoyama couple, the boys live a double life where they pretend to be a single child named Hitori. They swap places with military precision, never appearing together in public, coordinating their movements so seamlessly that no one suspects two distinct individuals exist. Their quiet exterior hides a dark mission: uncovering the identity of the woman who murdered their mother.
Nami Sano shifted gears dramatically from her previous surreal comedy work to create this genre-blending mystery thriller. Serialized in Enterbrain's Harta magazine from July 2017 through November 2021, the story begins with absurdist humor as the twins devise elaborate schemes to maintain their ruse. The tone tightens into psychological suspense as the investigation deepens, exposing the town's residents and leading to violent confrontations. Critics praised how Sano balanced the absurdity of the twins' situation with the gravity of their quest for justice.
The series spans seven tankōbon volumes and carries added emotional weight as Sano's final completed major work before she passed away from cancer in August 2023. An anime adaptation produced by Geek Toys and CompTown aired in late 2023, directed by Mankyū. Reviewers noted the strong visual style and faithful adaptation, with some interpreting the twins' shared identity as a metaphor for non-binary experiences or the fluidity of self.
